Fairclough's Framework




Textual Analysis

The printed advertising above bring message that air pollution kill 60,000 people a year. The advertising is simple and straight forward to audience. Let's talk about the colour first, according to colour psychology studies, white colour background is the colour of reflective, awakening openness, growth and creativity. You can't hide behind it as it effect everything in its way. Beside that white colour is make the advertisement look fresh, safety, purity, and cleanliness. About the “NRDC logo”, is using green color, green is the color of nature, it symbolizes growth, harmony, freshness, fertility and environment. Green also is a healthy color, it was believed a healing for the eye. It is smart to put the a picture of gun pointing up into the sky and connecting with a smokestack that release dark smoke into air to give straight forward information to the audiences that dark smoke can polluted the air. The typography is capital letter 'AIR POLLUTION KILLS 60,000 PEOPLE A YEAR' and with '60,000' bold text is to give attention to raise the issue and awareness.

Discursive Practice

Its fall into the discourse of awareness. The billboard picture of gun pointing up into the sky and connecting with a tube that release dark smoke into air and with the text "AIR POLLUTION KILLS 60,000 PEOPLE A YEAR".  It is to give alert and attention to audience that release smoke can polluted the air and kill a lot of people and air pollution kills people like a gun.

Sociocultural Practice


Sociocultural is a framework that remind the responsibility of social in human learning.  It a pretty effective ad at getting people to read what it's all about. "NRDC.org's "Air Pollution Kills 60,000 People a Year" billboard ad is a pretty awesome ad placement, putting it below the smokestack and we should take the message and go green.  It's  creative ad that grabbing social attention while managing to raise the issue and awareness.
